Duluth, MN (KDAL) - Good news for commuters—MN DOT says they are putting off the scheduled maintenance work on the Blatnik Bridge. Workers closed portions of the bridge to complete the work this week. However, they decided to reschedule to work after the project backed up traffic along the bridge and the east approach off of I-35. The project was underway at the same as the Wisconsin Department of Transportation closed the westbound lanes of the Bong Bridge as part of the rehabilitation project along that major artery. District Engineer Duane Hill says the Blatnik maintenance is key to keeping the bridge in good working condition. He adds that, “…Our work often affects travel times, and we do our best to reduce delays when we can.” Hill says they’ll tackle the work when traffic is not as heavy.
