DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - Tom Renier, the founding President of the Northland Foundation will be retiring in December of 2014. The announcement was made by the Board of Trustees on Thursday. Renier was hired shortly after the foundation was established in 1986 and led it from a modest grant-making entity into the unique organization that is recognized statewide for its work on behalf of the region and all of rural Minnesota. The Northland Foundation has raised 110 million dollars from public and private sources to support programming within northeastern Minnesota and has built an unrestricted permanent endowment of 60 million dollars.
