UNDATED (KDAL) - Figures from the National Park Service show that the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore in Wisconsin and Voyageurs National Park in Minnesota create big economic benefits to communities around the parks. In 2012, there were about 163,500 visitors to the Apostle Islands and they spent about 24 million dollars in the local area. The same report shows that 214 thousand visitors to Voyageurs National Park last year created about a 16 million dollar economic benefit to nearby communities. The NPS Report shows there is a ten dollar return for every one dollar invested in national parks.
