DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - Grandma's Marathon and the associated races will mean traffic congestion and delays on Friday and Saturday, especially in the downtown Duluth and Canal Park areas. Several roads will be closed including portions of I-35 on Saturday morning. Police are asking motorists to slow down and be alert for road closures and officer directing Friday night and Saturday morning. They expect traffic to return to normal by about 2 p-m Saturday. The weekend features the Whippersnapper Races for kids at Bayfront Festival Park at noon Friday, followed by the 21st Annual William A. Irvin 5-K at 6 p-m. On Saturday the 24th Annual Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon starts at 6:15 a-m, the Wheelchair Marathon begins at 7:40 and the 38th Annual Grandma's Marathon gets underway at 7:45.
