DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - As Grandma's Marathon weekend approaches, the Marathon office has announced the recipients of several awards. Three City of Duluth employees will be recognized with the Rudy Perpich Public Service Awards for their longtime contributions to Grandma's Marathon. They are Jim Benning, Bob LeDoux and Earl Stewart. This year's Ron Daws Ambassador Award will be presented to Joanie Holst who has coordinated and provided post race massage therapy for runners. Gordy Anderson and Mike Persing will receive the Verizon Wireless Award of Excellence. Anderson was the coordinator at the starting line near Two Harbors for about 15 years and Persing was a volunteer massage therapist for 24 years. This year's Grandma's Marathon Hall of Fame inductee is Scott Keenan who was the race director for the event's first 37 years before stepping down last August.
