Duluth, MN (KDAL) - Independent film buffs Sunday night packed a tent at Glensheen Mansion to watch the screening of a film shot at the location 42 years ago. The screening of ‘You’ll Like My Mother’ wrapped up this year’s Duluth Superior Film Festival. Academy Award-winning actress Patty Duke played the lead role of ‘Francesca’ in the film and was the festival’s featured guest. David Poulin of Park Point was among those movie-goers under the tent behind Glensheen. He says his decision to come was made at the last minute, in order to see friends and take in the festival which he’d heard quite a bit about. Also from Park Point was Thomas Bersell who was at the original film premiere in 1972 at the NorShore Theatre. He says Duluth was fortunate to be featured in the film and after hearing Patty Duke discuss her battle with mental illness in Duluth last week, he wanted to see the film once again. Bersell adds that, in his opinion, while the film had its scarier parts, it was still a very positive experience for those involved.
