WASHINGTON, D.C. (KDAL) - The Obama administration will be releasing additional emergency Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funds to help families during the current propane gas shortage. A total of more than 450 million in additional funding will be available including 15.8 million for Minnesota and 14.2 million in Wisconsin. In the two states there are 450 thousand households that rely on propane to heat their homes. The propane shortage in the midwest has also resulted in considerable price hikes which is further impacting families and businesses using propane as their primary source of heat during this colder than normal winter.
