DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - The Great Lakes Aquarium in Duluth broke ground on Monday for a new education center that will include three classrooms and a teacher resource center on the 2nd floor of the Aquarium. The Discovery Center will transform an underused section of the building into a multi-use space. The new Discovery Center is scheduled to open next winter. The 265 thousand dollar project is being helped by challenge grants from the Minnesota Power Foundation and matching funds from the Goldfine family of Duluth. Fundraising for the remaining 35 thousand dollars for the project continues.
