ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) - Minnesota Governor Dayton is expanding the eligibility for the state's Low Income Home Energy Assistance program. The new guidelines will allow households of four making less than around 52 thousand dollars a year to be eligible for assistance. Officials expect an additional 30 to 40 thousand households will apply for the help in paying for the fuel to heat their homes. Governor Dayton is also asking the federal government for more LIHEAP funding and says the legislature may be asked for money to help add funds to the program.
