DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - Thanks to a budget surplus last year, the Duluth City Council has approved spending 400 thousand dollars of that extra money to fix potholes this spring. Councilor Joel Sipress points out that this special allocation is not related to the city's long term lack of funding for street maintenance. Since the Fond Du Lac Band has ended revenue sharing from the downtown casino, the city is looking at an increase in property taxes or special fees to fund the street reconstruction program.
