DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - The company that will do the blighted property demolitions for the City of Duluth has agreed to pay a 60 thousand dollar civil penalty and will need to complete several corrective actions required by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. The MPCA says permit violations for improper waste disposal by Vonco V Industrial Landfill in Gary-New Duluth resulted in the temporary closure of the facility in May until corrective actions were taken. As part of the agreement with the MPCA, Vonco V will complete the 240 thousand dollar supplemental environmental project to demolish buildings and conduct site restoration activities at about 20 blighted properties in Duluth.
