DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - As part of the educational component of the Duluth Hot Air Balloon Festival, two area schools participated in weather balloon launches on Saturday and Sunday. The balloons were equipped with GPS devices to help locate them as they came down. The balloon launched by the Hermantown Middle School on Saturday ended up in a swamp near Hayward, Wisconsin and the Duluth Marshall School balloon launched on Sunday landed in the top of a 60 foot tree near Ironwood, Michigan.
