DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - The threat of spreading the Emerald Ash Borer continues. The Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (WLSSD) is placing an immediate ban of Wisconsin wood and brush at their Yard Waste Compost Site and Materials Recovery Center.
In a press release from WLSSD, executive director Marianne Bohren said that they had no choice but to place the ban at their facilities.
"We believe this will aid Wisconsin in successfully reducing the devestating impacts of Emerald Ash Borer and help to prevent its spread into other areas of the region," Bohren said.
While wood and brush from Wisconsin is banned, Bohren added that WLSSD will continue to collect wood waste from Minnesota.
