WASHINGTON, D.C. (KDAL) - Ten million dollars in U-S Department of Transportation funding to improve infrastructure at the Port of Duluth-Superior has been announced by the area's congressional delegation. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken and Representative Rick Nolan say the funds will be used to rebuild and expand the general cargo dock at the Port and connect it to existing road and rail infrastructure. Nolan says the grant will mean jobs in Duluth and around the region and Franken says it will serve to improve the global competitiveness of industries in the area. Klobuchar says the funds will ensure the Port has the 21st century facilities to play a vital role in delivering Minnesota products around the world.
