SUPERIOR, WI (KDAL) - After six long months, the total reconstruction of North Tower Avenue is complete and the street reopened late Tuesday afternoon. Superior Mayor Bruce Hagen says the new street-scape will become the centerpiece of the continued revitalization of the downtown. Businesses had to be accessed through back doors during the 14 million dollar project that began in April. Kay Tenerelli, Executive Director of the Superior Business Improvement District, praised merchants and customers for putting up with the temporary inconvenience. The mayor thanked the Wisconsin DOT, the city's Public Works Department and the contractor, Chippewa Concrete Services, for getting the project completed on time and on budget. Although the street is now open for vehicles and pedestrians, touch up work is being done over the next several weeks and the final landscaping will be completed next year.
