DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - After a nearly 50 year absence, the UMD Homecoming Parade is being held in downtown Duluth on Thursday night. The parade will feature bands and floats from student groups at UMD, nearly all of the school's athletes and some community entrants. Coordinator for Special Events, Kate Andrews, says there are 51 entrants in the parade which should last about an hour. The parade will set up on Michigan Street and be held along Superior Street from 1st Avenue West to 4th Avenue West beginning at 6 p-m. Motorists are asked to use caution as streets in the area will be closed and officers will be directing traffic during the event. DTA buses will be detoured from Superior Street to 1st Street for westbound service and 2nd Street for eastbound service during the parade.
