GRANTSBURG, WI (KDAL) - The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources was conducting a planned burn in the Crex Meadows Wildlife Area in Burnett County to restore wildlife habitat on Tuesday. High winds caused the fire to jump the containment lines and burned an additional 600 acres of state land before being brought under control on Tuesday night. No structures were damaged and nobody was injured in the fire that burned grass, marshland and some upland forest areas north of Grantsburg.
