DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - Law enforcement agencies around the state are adding extra DWI patrols starting on Thanksgiving and continue through the holiday season to combat drunk driving related crashes. In the last two years, the Thanksgiving weekend saw seven people killed on Minnesota roads and five of the seven fatalities were the result of a drunk driving crash. Over 1500 motorists were arrested for DWI over that same period. If you plan on drinking, plan for a sober ride home using a designated driver, a cab or public transportation. All drivers should remember to buckle up and be extra careful during the busy holiday travel season.
