UNDATED (KDAL) - The "Give to the Max" fundraising effort in Minnesota on Thursday set a new record even though the site was overwhelmed and was offline for several hours. Organizers say they raised nearly a million dollars more than last year and the 17.1 million dollars donated by over 50 thousand people will benefit over 44 hundred nonprofits and schools in the state. Among those being helped was the 2nd Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank where contributions and a match from the Lahti Foundation resulted in over 31 thousand dollars raised. That support will allow the food bank to rescue and distribute enough food for 157 thousand meals for folks in northeast Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin.
