GRAND MARAIS, MN (KDAL) - A request by the defense and prosecution to move the upcoming trial of Cook County Attorney Tim Scannell to Duluth has been granted by a judge in Grand Marais. Former U-S Attorney Tom Heffelfinger is the special prosecutor in the case that will be heard in St. Louis County Court. Scannell is charged with 4th degree criminal sexual conduct after an alleged inappropriate relationship with a teenage girl. Although the girl was over the age of consent, the allegations are criminal because Scannell is more than four years older than the girl and was in a position of authority.
