NEW SALEM, ND (KDAL) - Officials gathered in New Salem, North Dakota on Thursday to dedicate Minnesota Power's Bison Wind Energy Center. The 101 wind turbines will produce over 290 megawatts of renewable energy which is delivered east to Minnesota on a 465 mile dedicated transmission line that Minnesota Power purchased in 2009. The company is enlarging its renewable energy capability in response to a state mandate to produce 25 percent of its energy from renewable sources by 2025. Wind power from the Bison project has doubled Minnesota Power's percentage of renewable energy.
