SUPERIOR, WI (KDAL) - The suspect in the Thursday shooting that killed Terrance Luukkonen in Superior had a connection to Luukkonen's fiancee, Superior Police said Friday. The two had met while the victim's fiancee was in Arizona in 2011 and had reportedly become acquaintances. Police said Luukkonen's fiancee identified 41-year-old Juan Padilla, who had recently moved to Duluth and was staying at the Allyndale Motel in West Duluth. According to the police statement, Padilla was reportedly upset that Luukkonen and his fiancee were continuing their relationship and Padilla made threatening statements such as "I want to kill him," and "I can't live without you." Luukkonen was found in his car in the parking lot of Genesis Attachments, where he worked, with a single gunshot wound to the head on Thursday. Padilla is being held at the St. Louis County jail and awaiting extradition to Douglas County.
