ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) - The Minnesota unemployment rate dropped to 5.3 percent, according to figures released today by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, while job gains were up about 1,000 in the Duluth-Superior area. In April, the state hit its lowest jobless rate since May of 2008 and remains below the nationwide average of 7.5 percent. Employers shed about 11,400 jobs last month, though the state has gained 24,400 jobs in the past year overall. Information, as well as Education and Health Care led all sectors last month.
