MOUNTAIN IRON, MN (KDAL) - Law enforcement will be increasing patrols targeting a lack of compliance with seatbelt and child safety seat laws in May. Nearly 41 percent of all motorists killed in traffic crashes on Minnesota roads during the last three years were not buckled up. Sgt. John Backman from the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office says many serious injuries and deaths could be prevented just by wearing a seatbelt everytime your in a vehicle. Across the Iron Range this month, increased patrols will be watching for and writing tickets to those occupants of vehicles who are not wearing seatbelts.
