DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - Despite its soggy start, the tourism industry will have a chance to celebrate its impact on the community this week during National Travel and Tourism Week. On what's expected to be the nicest day -- Tuesday -- Visit Duluth and the Greysolon Ballroom will host Travel Rally Day, billed as an effort to demonstrate travel's positive impact on local workers, businesses and economies. Visit Duluth President and CEO, Terry Mattson, also will be recognized for being named Minnesota's Outstanding Individual in Tourism. According to Visit Duluth, tourism today accounts for nearly $800 million in direct economic impact and supports more than 18,000 local jobs.
