DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - Jim Carlson and his son likely won't see a judge until Tuesday, according to staff at the St. Louis County Jail. The owner of Last Place on Earth and his son, Joseph Gellerman, were arrested Friday on three charges of 4th-degree sale of controlled substances, a felony in the state of Minnesota. Jail staff said the county usually sets-aside Monday to take care of its new misdemeanor charges, while gross-misdemeanors and felonies are usually handled on Tuesday. The pair are being held without bail pending the hearing. Carlson was reading the newspaper in his jail unit early Saturday morning, according to jail staff. Gellerman is being held in a separate unit. Authorities on Friday executed a search warrant of the controversial head shop, taking evidence including controlled substances, U.S. currency, documents and one firearm. Carlson, his girlfriend, Gellerman and one other are under a federal Grand Jury indictment for violating drug laws and will go on trial in September.
