ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) - The Minnesota unemployment rate climbed to a seasonally adjusted 5.6 percent in January from a revised 5.4 percent in December according to figures released Tuesday by the Department of Employment and Economic Development. The nationwide unemployment rate in January was 7.9 percent. Minnesota employers added 12,100 jobs during the month and job growth outpaced the nation in 7 of 11 industry sectors. Job gains in the Twin Ports Metro area was up 1.1 percent in the last 12 months.
