ANNAPOLIS, MD (KDAL) - If you own a business or have an organization near the water, a boat-owners association is trying to enlist you to be a hub for free life jackets. The BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water is taking applications through March for businesses to be new loaner sites for life jackets for children and teens. There is no cost to be a loaner site, but applications will be vetted at the foundation's Facebook page for public voting. If approved, a site would receive a life jacket loaner "kit," or a protective container that holds various sized life jackets for kids, signage, promotional materials and sign-out sheets to track usage. The life jackets would be free for anyone to use.
