ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) - State Representative Erik Simonson from Duluth received the "First Time Legislator of the Year Award" from the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities. The award recognizes a first term legislator who has gone above and beyond on behalf of Greater Minnesota. Simonson was instrumental in helping organize legislators in a fight for Local Government Aid and proved to be an "astute strategist and excellent negotiator" according to CGMC President and Mayor of Cloquet, Bruce Ahlgren. Simonson was presented the award at the Coalition's three day conference in Bemidji on July 25th.
