DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - The St. Louis County recorders office has begun accepting marriage license applications from the same sex couples Friday. That allows for the mandatory five day waiting period to be able to marry on August 1st, the day that the Freedom to Marry Law takes effect in Minnesota. The cost of the marriage license is $115 dollars but fro any couple completing 12 hours of pre-marital counseling, the fee is 40 dollars. The new applications remove the reference to applicants being "A man and the other being a woman". Applications are available at county recorders offices in Duluth, Virginia, Hibbing and Ely.
