LITTLE MARAIS, MN (KDAL) - The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is monitoring a small amount of diesel fuel that leaked into Lake Superior from an overturned semi near Little Marais on Highway 61. An estimated 75 to 80 gallons leaked from the truck's fuel tanks into a ditch and traveled an estimated 1000 feet into the lake via a natural storm water channel. Absorbent booms have been placed around the spill and residents have been advised to avoid the area.
