DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is looking for public comment on a proposal to authorize grant-in-aid funding for the 16-mile Cook County ATV trail in the Tom Lake area of the Grand Portage State Forest. The DNR says that adding the trail to the grant-in-aid system means it would qualify for extra resources and funding for updates on trail signs, maintenance, monitoring and repair. The trail is designed for ATVs, but would be open for horseback riding, mountain biking and hiking in the summer; in the winter it could be used additionally for skiing, snowmobiling and dog sledding. A digital copy of the proposal and corresponding map can be found at the DNR's website.
