BAXTER, MN (KDAL) - State safety officials are treating Super Bowl Sunday like they would any major holiday weekend and urging motorists to use extra caution due to the spate of accidents and DWI arrests in the past four years on the infamous Sunday. According to figures compiled by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, there were at least nine traffic deaths and at least 1,101 DWI arrests between 2008 and 2012 over Super Bowl weekends. Officials remind people that these accidents are avoidable, and that extra enforcement and patrol will be out in many regions of the state.
