ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) - More information has been released regarding the DNR employee who was fired after wrongfully accessing and viewing driver's license and motor vehicle records without a job related reason to do so. John A. Hunt was discharged because the unauthorized access to the Department of Public Safety Driver and Vehicle Services database is a violation of state and federal laws and the DNR standards of behavior policy. An investigation by the DNR and the BCA indicated that Hunt viewed the data of about 5 thousand people while off-duty without any job related purpose. Letters were sent to those individuals making them aware that their records had been inappropriately accessed. DNR Commissioner Tom Landwehr says the agency is embarrassed and disappointed by Hunt's actions and apologizes to everyone affected by his wrongful behavior.
