Name of Deceased in Hwy 61 Accident Released

DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - The Minnesota State Patrol has released the name of the deceased in the vehicle accident near the Lafayette Bluffs tunnel yesterday afternoon on Hwy. 61. The victim was Caitlin Kelly, 19, of Northfield, MN.  The driver of the other vehicle, Paul Drindak, 62, of Thunder Bay, Ontario, suffered no injuries. The passenger, Linda Drindak, 61, also of Thunder Bay, received a non-life threatening injury.The crash happened about 3 p.m. and closed the highway in both directions for a time. According to the state patrol, Kelly's vehicle spun out and went sideways before being struck on the passenger side by the Drindak's southbound vehicle. The roadway was icy at the time of the crash, the patrol said. Both directions were reopened about 7 p.m.
