ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) - The 2013 session of the Minnesota Legislature began on Tuesday with the swearing-in of new members, election of leaders and committee appointments. The state is again facing a budget deficit and solving that problem is expected to be the top item on the agenda. Democrats are also talking about paying schools back for payments that were delayed to balance the budget two years ago. House Speaker Paul Thissen says about 500 million dollars is needed to return the delayed aid by 2015. There is talk about some tax increases as the DFL controls both houses of the legislature.
