MADISON, WI (KDAL) - The Wisconsin Department of Trade and Consumer Protection is alerting citizens to beware of a phone scam that claims you need a replacement Medicare card. A group called "Preferred Benefits to Seniors" has been making calls to seniors, often saying they need a replacement Medicare card and asking to verify personal information including bank account numbers. Officials say representatives of Medicare would never call to get personal information and if anyone asks for such details, just hang up.
