WASHINGTON, D.C. (KDAL) - U-S Senator Amy Klobuchar and Representative Erik Paulson of Minnesota have reintroduced bipartisan legislation to crack down on the growing problem of metal theft. In recent years metal theft has increased 80 percent and thieves are stealing it from critical infrastructure as well as from businesses, homes, churches and even graves. The Metal Theft Prevention Act would make it harder for the thieves to sell stolen metal, increase penalties for conviction and make it a federal crime in some cases.
