KELSEY, MN (KDAL) - The St. Louis County Sheriff's Department was called to the scene of a vehicle that hit a stopped BNSF train at a crossing in Kelsey Township early Wednesday morning. The train had stopped with mechanical problems and was blocking the intersection with Arkola Road. A 28 year old man from Kelsey was eastbound on Arkola in dense fog and collided with the train. Despite first aid and CPR performed by citizens and then medical personnel, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The railroad crossing where the accident occurred is marked with a stop sign but there is no flashing light or stop arm. Authorities have identified the victim as Adam John Sharp of Kelsey.
