MADISON, WI (KDAL) - A timber harvesting grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation of 49 thousand dollars was announced by Governor Scott Walker on Thursday. The funds will go to the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest Stewardship Initiative and would allow the U-S Forest Service to harvest backlogged timber from the forest. The grant is expected to help revitalize the industry in northern Wisconsin and help to maintain or create hundreds of jobs.
