UNDATED (KDAL) - A poll of Minnesotans, conducted by the Stop the Carp Coalition, shows most people favor a lock closure to stop Asian Carp from migrating up the Mississippi River past the Twin Cities. 93 percent say they would be concerned if the carp got into lakes and rivers in the state and 63 percent favor a physical barrier to keep them from going northward from the Upper St. Anthony Falls in Minneapolis. Coalition members say the carp have the potential to do great damage to commercial and recreational fishing in the state and Minnesota officials need to act with urgency to keep that from happening.
