DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - A grant program by Ecolibrium3 will allow income-eligible households to convert fuel oil heating systems to natural gas at little or no cost. The pilot program is expected to serve 22 to 27 households through October of 2013 and will target single family homes in the Lincoln Park and West Duluth areas. The grants will average 6 thousand dollars per household. The City of Duluth Community Development Director, Keith Hamre, says the Ecolibrium3 program will help those who have not been able to afford the cost of replacing their heating systems to switch to the more economical natural gas. At this time, those who switch are saving an average of 1,062 dollars a year in heating costs. Those with questions or interest in taking part in the program should contact Ecolibrium3 at 218-336-1038 or visit ecolibrium3.org
