DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - As of early Friday morning the weather service in Duluth measured 17.7 inches of snow in this latest spring storm. That easily breaks records for total snowfall in April (now at 41.7 inches) and there are still 11 days left in the month. Other snow totals from the most recent storm included 22 inches near Two Harbors and south of Superior, 19.3 inches in Carlton, 18 inches in Eveleth and Maple and 16 in Chisholm. The Minnesota Department of Transportation says many roads are snow covered and slippery with difficult driving conditions on most area highways. Highway 61 up the north shore is listed as hazardous. Snow is expected to continue along the south shore snowbelt areas through the day Friday.
