DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - The former Lake Superior Zoo polar bear, Berlin, is apparently getting "real" friendly with her new mate Nikita at the Kansas City Zoo. Director of Operations at the Duluth zoo, Peter Pruett, says the staff at the Kansas City Zoo observed the two getting intimate this week. Berlin and Nikita were placed together as part of a breeding program for the survival of the species. The number of polar bears in American zoos are at 68 and they are a threatened species in the wild.
