ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) - The Minnesota Department of Public Safety says motorcycle fatalities has hit 40 for the year after recording 11 in August, making that the deadliest month of the year.  At this time a year ago there were 29 motorcycle fatalities.  Program coordinator Bill Shaffer is encouraging motorists to share the road and look twice for motorcycles in traffic as the autumn riding season can be just as deadly.  He says motorcycle riders must also be responsible for protecting themselves by keeping speeds in check, riding sober and being visible to other drivers.  Motorcycle ridership is at record levels in the state with over 404,000 licensed operators.
