Duluth, MN (KDAL) - A former Superior resident was executed by lethal injection last night in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  Fifty year old Eric Robert beat a prison guard to death with a lead pipe in a failed jail break.  He had been serving time for kidnapping.

Robert graduated from High School in Hayward and lived and worked in Superior for the city as a crew supervisor in the Public Works Department.

The escape attempt that lead to the death of the guard was on April 12th of last year.
