WASHINGTON, D.C. (KDAL) - Senator Al Franken of Minnesota is backing a new bipartisan plan to help prevent the spread of Asian Carp. Franken is co-sponsor of the "Strategic Response To Asian Carp Act" which would create a coordinated federal response to the threat of the invasive fish species. It would also enable the federal government to work more effectively with state and local groups in the fight to keep the carp out of the Great Lakes and other waterways. Under the bill, the U-S Fish and Wildlife Service would coordinate the multi-agency effort.
