George Lucas told Fisher and Hammill about Star Wars plans

From WENN.com

Hammill admits he was surprised by the big industry news that Lucas had sold his film empire Lucasfilm to Disney executives - because he thought the movie mogul would want to oversee any future Star Wars projects.

Under the new $4 billion deal, Lucas will be a consultant on the new movies.

Hammill tells EW.com that he and Fisher were given a heads up about Lucas' plans for the Star Wars franchise back in August (12).

He recalls, ""l thought he was going to talk about either his retirement or the Star Wars TV series that I've heard about... or the 3D releases.

""So when he said, 'We decided we're going to do Episodes VII, VIII, and IX,' I was just gobsmacked. (I said), 'What? Are you nuts?' I can see both sides of it. Because, in a way, there was a beginning, a middle, and an end and we all lived happily ever after and that's the way it should be... but on the other hand, there's this ravenous desire on the part of the true believers to have more and more and more material.

""It's one of those things: people either just don't care for it or are passionate about it. I guess that defines what cult movies are all about. We'll see.""

Hammill admits it was good to see his friend Lucas in ""a really good place"" when they spoke - and now he knows why the filmmaker was so happy; he was about to become a very rich man.
