DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - The Duluth FIre Department responded to a fire in the basement of a two story home at 410 N. 27th Avenue West on Sunday morning. The family of five who lived at the home got out safely thanks to smoke detectors. The fire damaged the floor joists and decking above the basement furnance area and all levels of the home were heavily damaged by smoke. The Fire Department determined that the blaze was caused when storage adjacent to the oil burning furnace caught fire. Damage to the building and its contents are estimated at 50 thousand dollars.
