DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - State Senator Roger Reinert of Duluth has introduced a proposal to build the new Vikings stadium in Duluth.  In a letter to Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton, Reinert says the 500 acres of land where the U-S Steel Plant and the Atlas Cement Works used to be would be an ideal site for a stadium.  He says construction could begin soon since the environmental clean-up of the site is in its final stages.  Senator Reinert says part of the state's portion of stadium funding could be paid with the revenue generated by his proposed Sunday Liquor Sales legislation which is estimated to generate 10.6 million dollars a year.  Reinert mentions the Green Bay Packers as an example of a team that draws fans from large population bases (Milwaukee and Madison) that are over two hours away.  He says Duluth merits serious consideration in the ongoing stadium discussions.
